Tips and tricks for making these brownie (mini) cauldron cakes for Halloween

These chocolate brownie (mini) cauldron cakes are the perfect dessert to cast your friends and family under your spell! If you want to make perfectly chocolate-y witch cauldrons, here are a few tips to follow.

  • If you’re short on time, use store-bought frosting instead of making your own. It won’t taste quite as good, but these cauldrons will still be pretty delicious. Just add the food coloring according to the recipe.
  • If you are feeling extra creative, you can make your brownies from scratch! Just make sure that they are nice and fudgy.
  • Let your brownies cool down completely after baking. They should only be the slightest bit warm or else they will melt your frosting and make a mess.
  • To make these cauldrons extra witchy, you can add Halloween sprinkles to the top. Normal sprinkles look great, but eyeball or bone sprinkles look even grimmer!
  • If you aren’t going to be serving these cauldrons within an hour after decorating it is best to store them in an airtight container to keep them nice and soft.
  • These brownie (mini) cauldron cakes get stale pretty fast so it is best to not keep them longer than 2 to 3 days. After that, they will be dry and crumbly.
  • If you have kiddos who want to take over the kitchen, keep them busy by having them make Witch Hat Cookies! This mini cauldron cakes recipe requires a bit more attention to detail and a finer hand.

Where can I find the mini cauldrons?

The mini witch cauldrons are surprisingly easy to find. Especially this time of the year when Halloween items are starting to be available.

Your best bet is to buy them online at places like Amazon or Oriental Trading. But you might have luck buying them at Michaels and Johann’s Fabrics as well.
